How to Become a Photographer for Stock Photography

What is Stock Photography?

I suppose I should have mentioned before that I am talking about stock photography. In the most basic terms stock photography is what designers of all types use. They decide that for there project they need a nice picture of a teddy bear so they go to a stock photography firm to pick one out. The designer pays the company for the use of the picture and then the company pays the individual photographer who submitted the picture. You can be the photographer that gets paid for the image that the designer has paid for the right to use.

Why Stock Photography?

You might be thinking that there are a ton of different ways that photographers can get paid for there photos. Why are we bothering to talk about stock photography? What is so great about stock photography? Stock photographers work for themselves and they get to have the freedom that goes with it. You do not have to work with a schedule if you do not want to. You can pretty much take pictures of just about anything you want to. Some things will make more money than others, but you will figure that out as you learn how to become a photographer.
